Art Gallery Ideas from Minted

When I was planning our gallery wall I knew I’d find great options on Minted. It’s my favorite site for beautiful art, invitations and holiday cards. I’ve used them for over a decade and their quality of work and customer service is phenomenal.

I chose pieces that brought me joy, whether it be nostalgia (the empty hut takes me back to a beach in Spain that I visited while backpacking after college) or a reflection of my personality (the vintage books because of my love for reading).

Art is so personal. There is no right or wrong answer as to what you should fill your walls with, but here are a few things to consider when planning a gallery wall:

  1. Frame each spot with masking tape and make a mock up gallery. Make sure the space in between frames is similar. Use the largest piece of art as an anchor piece and let it shape the overall display. Back up and make sure you like the set up before you start hammering nails.

  2. Tailor to the room, especially if it’s the first thing people see when they walk into your home. The art should compliment the flow of the area, not take it over.

  3. Split up pieces that look extremely similar to one another; this will be easier on the eye and result in a more cohesive looking display. (Hence the reason I separated the butterfly collage from the plant clipping)

  4. Feel free to mix and match frames, using both horizontal and portrait orientations. It adds dimension and personality to the wall. Minted has so many to choose from.

  5. You do you. Your home is a reflection on your own personal style. Don’t get too caught up on trends. If you love a piece of art, put it up!

  6. Update as needed. Your overall decorating style and taste in artwork may change over time, but gallery walls are easy to change—especially if you do your own framing.

Minted supports the creative community and collaborates with independent artists, offering design challenges. “The winning designs are manufactured by Minted, enabling artists from around the world to share and sell their work while letting you source freshly curated design every day.”

Below are some of the pieces I ordered for our wall and the others are gallery wall inspiration I curated from their site:
